Location: Hennepin Illinois
Pay Rate: 130 – 160k Salary

Overview
The Project Manager position at Manhattan Mechanical Services supports the safe execution of all work and operates with the highest degree of integrity. The Project Manager will work in unison with other positions providing solutions while sharing common goals and supporting loyalty to both company and community. The Project Manager will engage in continuous improvement and career development when opportunities are presented in an effort to move the company forward.

Primary Function
This position will communicate and report directly to the Operations Manager. The Project Manager is responsible for the organizing, planning, and supervision of all activities for Maintenance, capital, and turnaround projects.  He/she assures that the project meets the engineering plans and specifications and the work is accomplished within budget and on schedule.  The Project Manager will directly supervise safety, quality assurance, quality control, administrative, engineering and craft superintendents during maintenance, capital and turnaround work.  Project Managers are responsible for approving all billings to the client, coordinating efforts with engineering, operations, procurement, inspection, and client personnel.   They implement and monitor all management reports, schedules, changes in scope and procedures in accordance with the corporate guidelines.  The Project Manager must always project a professional attitude, appearance and always communicate professionally both written and verbally. The Project Manager will promote Manhattan Mechanical Services in a positive manner, developing a partnering relationship with the client to reduce the client’s costs, and improve safety and reliability.

Work Environment
The normal work environment will be in the corporate office and/or an industrial facility. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions is possible and proper PPE is required for a variety of potential hazards.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Ensures an effective safety program is in place to identify and correct safety hazards, as well as communicating all safety procedures before each day in safety meetings.
  • Communicates any needs or concerns with the appropriate HSE, QA/QC, Logistics, Cost Control and HR representatives/managers/appropriate personnel throughout the project.
  • Various financial reporting as required, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Communicates any delays or scope deviations to the client as soon as they are identified, for resolution.
  • Maintains a daily log to permanently record all significant project facts, events, conditions, delays, visitors, owner representative contacts, commitments, agreements, change orders, and approvals.
  • Basic estimating, scheduling and budgeting skills
  • Distributes and collects client post job audits and conducts project close-out meetings.
  • Develops project staffing and manpower plans.
  • Responsible for Weekly Sales Report
  • Responsible for Personnel pipeline update and review
  • Review estimates for bid approval
  • Resolves any conflicts with/for Field Supervisors, Support Staff and/or Employees. Will contact HR or appropriate personnel on employee matters if necessary.
  • Knowledge of various crafts and procedures on site including, welding, pipefitting, general maintenance work   
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal) skills required

Education / Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience in the Petrochemical Industry or related field doing similar type work.
  •  Candidates with a related college degree and less than 5 years relevant management and/or supervisory experience may also qualify. 
  • Experience managing turnaround and capital projects worth up to $3MM and up to 50 employees is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Microsoft Office knowledge strongly preferred (excel, word, etc.)
Physical
  • Must be able to present yourself in a positive, courteous, neat appearance, and professional manner.
  • Must comply with Manhattan Mechanical Services drug and alcohol policy.
  • Periods of walking and standing
  • Must be able to read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels, and permits in English.
Safety/Environmental
  • Must be able to pass applicable site-specific training.  Knowledge of refinery and chemical plant hazards which may require special precautions and PPE, such as Sulfuric, H2S and HF.
  • Must undertake the appropriate safety/environmental training commensurate with the position and location.
  • CPR and 1st Aid trained, when required.
  • May be required to qualify for a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Must be able to read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels and permits in English.
